When Do You Decide That The Book You Are Reading Is Not For You?

I am a patient reader. I don't say this with the air of a proud man, it is just that I am patient with the books that I read as I allow them to have their problems. I try to understand their story and to see the bigger picture, before I judge them. And I try to give them a chance to prove themselves until I turn the last page. I don't skim, I try to capture the spirit of the book by reading each and every word. It may not be the smartest thing, because time is the most precious asset when it comes to reading, but I've very rarely stopped reading a book right in the middle.

  1. I have a "50 page rule". Normally I read 50 pages.
Then I decide whether I like the book or not.
If I don't like it then I skip it.

There is one exception. When I promise to review a book I read the whole book.
